Around the branches...
CORK
An excellent weekend
away from 11th to 13th April was enjoyed by about 40 people, writes Chairman
Harry Matson.
The Annual event took place as usual at the Butler Arms
Hotel in Waterville with golf played at the Waterville Club on the Saturday.
Glorious sunshine was the order of the day. "Most enjoyable",
says Harry.
The men's event was won by Dan O'Flynn, the ladies contest by Bridie Casey.
Elected Captain for the year was Pat Casey who hosted the match for the
Captain's Prize held at Muskerry at the beginning of July.
Again glorious weather was enjoyed by the 45 players. Winner was Ger Cunningham,
former Cork Hurling goalkeeper, who had a one point victory over another
well known sports star, Brian Murphy.
The event was sponsored by Gerry Ahern of T & A Builders supplies who
put up a grand array of prizes. Captain Pat Casey was delighted with the
day and the condition of the course and the catering provided by his club.
Details of the Branch's Golf Classic at Lee Valley coming soon on the
site.
