The theory that Creation commenced with a 'Big Bang' some ten million years ago, has now superceded Fred Hoyle's Steady State theory. However, why a 'Big Bang' all those years ago and what caused it are questions still to be answered. Hubble, he of the telescope fame, is in fact more famous amongst cosmologists for his Hubble constant. He proved that there is a constancy in the distances between heavenly bodies even though they are all still moving apart ten million years after the Big Bang occurred. This means the Universe is still expanding. Creation, as we observe it, is permeated by cycles and by waves. It is exciting to realise that eventually our Universe will cease to expand and inevitably will commence to contract. Over another impossibly huge time scale all heavenly bodies will then start to come together and when eventually they all meet, under conditions of infinitely high pressures, temperatures and gravitational fields, another 'Big Bang' will occur as Matter turns into Energy. Another Creation begins as another cycle commences. So in the Beginning, there was no Beginning, and in the End, there will be no End, but there was and always will be Energy. Energy, that cannot be destroyed or be created. Energy that has many varieties and can turn from one form into another. Energy, the alpha and the omega, which gave birth to Creation. Yes, all the planets, all the stars, and all the Galaxies with their dwarfs, blackholes and other strange phenomena, were created from the impossibly immense, infinite if you will, fountain of Energy. But how can Energy even in unimaginably large amounts and having so many differing forms become the Creator of matter. It is a fact that the only way man can create energy at present is by nuclear fission. If we had worked out the practicalities of how the Sun creates energy, by fusing two deuterium atoms to make a single helium atom, then we could make energy here on earth by a controlled fusion reaction. In both reactions there is a small mass loss and as Einstein predicted if mass is destroyed in a nuclear reaction then energy is produced. Reactions under the right forcing conditions of high pressure, high temperature or high gravitational fields can be reversed. So the thesis is that with an immense amount of energy, in all its differing forms, one would expect small particles to be produced, under the right conditions. We are still taught in school that all atoms have protons and neutrons in a nucleus and that electrons whiz around this nucleus. These particles, the real building bricks of our world are incredibly small. The electron is the smallest and is recognised to have a dual nature. It is part particle, and as it moves with a speed approaching that of light, it is part wave. Before we launch ourselves too deeply into quantum mechanics, lets just say that the electrons wave nature was directly linked to Energy by another early twentieth century genius… one Max Plank. It follows then that under the right conditions, with the correct form and quantity of energy present, an electron could be born. Similarly protons and neutrons could also follow. Recent research suggests that these nuclear particles are themselves an amalgamation of smaller particles,…..mesons, quarks etc. This makes it even easier to envisage the simplest atom of Hydrogen being created from the boundless source of Energy. Once a hydrogen atom has been created, and as conditions become more favourable, then by fusion all ninety two elements in Creation would emerge. The beginnings of Creation as we know it started here……not with biological species (for they evolved much later) but with sub particles forming from the unimaginably enormous constantly changing vastness of wave structured energy which can never be destroyed. Within this vastness then, like Maradonna's famous hand, lies our Creator ……who like an orchestral conductor is directing and organising the energy and is a necessary and integral part of Creation.
